Ladoja To Chair Oyo 2025 World Egungun Festival

The former governor of Oyo State and the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Rashidi Ladoja will chair the forthcoming state-sponsored 2025 World Egungun festival.

Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Oyo State, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun disclosed this during a courtesy visit on the former governor at his residence in Ibadan.

Olatunbosun said the purpose of the visit was to formally inform the traditional leader of the ministry’s plans to seek his consent to chair the 2025 festival and to solicit for his royal blessings.

He stressed that the World Egungun Festival remained a significant cultural showcase that draws participants and visitors from around the globe.

The commissioner reiterated the Oyo State Government’s commitment to promoting cultural values, unity, and tourism through events such as the Egungun Festival, and looks forward to a successful and impactful celebration.

The commissioner, on behalf of the ministry, expressed deep appreciation to Ladoja for his willingness to play a key role in the cultural event, which is set to celebrate the rich heritage and traditions of the Yoruba people.

Responding, Oba Ladoja graciously accepted the ministry’s invitation to serve as the chairman and royal father of the day at the celebration.
