The beneficiaries were said to have relocated to the new site by the Kebbi State government with the aid of NEMA.

At the flagged off ceremony of the disbursement of relief items and cash to affected victims, deputy governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Umar Tafida who represented Governor Nasir Idris said the day marked another history where the state government and NEMA will present building materials worth millions of naira as well as cash to the people who were displaced by devastated floods last year in Kamfani Village under Argungu local government area of the state.

Tafida commended the efforts of both the state government and NEMA and urged the beneficiaries to use what they received to sustain their livelihoods.

He also said a committee has been set up to oversee land distribution at the government-provided new site for victims.

According to the deputy governor, the gesture is aimed at reconstructing the village, which suffered extensive damage during last year’s flooding.

In his speech, the director general of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, who was represented by a director in charge of NEMA’s northwest zone, Aliyu Shehu Kafindangi, announced that the gesture includes one truck of cement, 600 pieces of roofing sheets, 200 bundles of zinc, and 50 bags of nails, among other things.

Kafindangi added that the gesture is not only meant to provide immediate succour but also to support the long-term recovery and rebuilding of Kamfani Village, fostering resilience within the community.
