Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has blamed some governors for fueling the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

Wike who made this known on Monday while speaking during a media chat with selected journalists, claimed that the rift between him and suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara was instigated by certain governors.

He also confirmed that Fubara had initiated a peace move by visiting him alongside two governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, Wike mocked Fubara, stating that those who encouraged him were still secure in their positions while he faced political isolation.

“Governors came pushing him, where are they now? I think the governors are enjoying their own. Fubara is a young man, I warned him, saying, ‘Look, go this way, go this way, and you will not have problems,’” he said.

The minister also expressed doubts that lifting of the state of emergency earlier imposed on Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu alone would resolve the crisis.

“Assuming that we don’t settle this problem and the state of emergency is called off, has it ended the problems? No, because the Assembly will still be as firm as they have been. So the crisis will still be there, they will not pass your budget,” he said.

Wike further stressed that he told Fubara when he came for reconciliation that he cannot be making moves for peace while his supporters are doing otherwise.

“I told him, I do not think you have the capacity to really make this peace. It is not easy; if you are making peace, your people are demonstrating every day.

“If you are making peace, your people are busy on television insulting people,” Wike said.
