Popular Nollywood actress, Plus-Size advocate and brand influencer, Monalisa Ayobami Stephen, has died after health complications related to low blood sugar and internal bleeding.

The 33-year-old, known for her outspoken views on body image and mental health, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Lagos State, according to a family source.

Entertainment executive and CEO of Best of Nollywood, Seun Oloketuyi, confirmed the news on Wednesday via a post on his Instagram page, describing her as ‘hardworking and beautiful soul’.

“Brand influencer Monalisa Ayobami Stephen is dead. She died yesterday in Lagos after losing the fight against low sugar and internal bleeding. Her immediate younger sister confirmed the death of this hardworking and beautiful soul,” Oloketuyi wrote.

Monalisa Stephen gained prominence for using her platform to address issues related to self-love, body positivity, and mental health, often sparking debates with her candid remarks.
