Speaking to journalists during the congresses held in Port Harcourt, NYCN President, Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, said the move was aimed at strengthening and rejuvenating the leadership structures of the youth council at national and zonal levels.

Sukubo charged the new leaders to provide vibrant, proactive, responsive, selfless, and innovative leadership that adapts to evolving global trends in youth development.

In his remarks, the new chairman of the Forum of State Chairmen of NYCN, Abdul-Quadri Abdul-Salam, said the forum has launched a nationwide skill development programme known as “One Youth, One Skill Initiative,” to combat the menace of youth restiveness.

Abdul-Salam explained that the initiative aims to equip the youth with marketable skills for economic empowerment, discourage idleness and promote productivity, creativity, self-reliance and youth entrepreneurship.

He urged members of the forum to seek strategic partnerships with all tiers of governments as well as corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals to implement the initiative in their respective States.
