Two federal lawmakers from Kano State, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum and Abdullahi Sani Rogo, on Thursday, announced their defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing unresolved internal crises within the party.

The announcement was made during Thursday plenary at the House of Representatives, where Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read the lawmakers’ defection letters on the floor of the House.

Rurum represents the Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya federal constituency, while Rogo is the lawmaker representing Karaye/Rogo.

Their exit from the NNPP marks a significant political shift in Kano, a stronghold of the party during the last general elections.

In a related development, Oluwole Oke, a lawmaker from Osun State, also formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
