Onuigbo spoke to LEADERSHIP Weekend after delivering a paper at the Conference of Deans of Education Nigerian Universities 2025 Annual Conference and General Meeting at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

According to him, “Floods, droughts, and extreme heat often disrupt schooling, damage infrastructure and increase absenteeism.”

The former member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency at the National Assembly (2015-2023) noted that education is critical to addressing climate justice.

“Targeted educational programmes can raise awareness about environmental rights and equip students from these areas to advocate for equity and sustainability.”
