The frontline campaign against the deadly diseases by the First Lady complements Governor Ademola Adeleke’s broader plans to provide sound, affordable and accessible health services to the citizens. The awareness, being an initiative of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouse Forum, focuses to put an end to the spread and harmful effect of the menace of the diceases in Nigeria.

The well-attended event featured lectures by Mrs Olaore, (Osun State Immunization Officer) who gave explicit and in-depth insight on improving personal hygiene, avoiding premarital and unprotected sex among young girls, reporting early signs to nearest hospitals to seek necessary medical attentions. Mrs Olaore charged parents to ensure completion of measles immunisation vaccines and spread the gospel to denounce insinuations that measles vaccines are deadly to infants.

Speaking at the programme, Commissioner for Health, Barrister Jola Moses Akintola, appreciated Mrs. Adeleke for the sensitization programme, describing it as timely and purposeful. He called on mothers to seriously personalise hygiene and ensure a safe lifestyle for their children as a way to reduce risk factors.
