Vice President Kashim Shettima has stated that Taraba State is an agricultural powerhouse of Nigeria that must be fully harnessed to create empowerment and eradicate poverty, particularly among women and youth.

Shettima stated this in Jalingo, Taraba State capital, yesterday during the occasion of the Taraba International Investment Summit (TARAVEST)

Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the occasion, noted that the president has initiated programmes to decentralise industrialisation from the federal government to subnational governments of Nigeria, with the aim of complementing the nation’s empowerment growth.

Also speaking at the occasion, the chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and the chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Tony Elumelu, advised the host of the summit and Taraba State governor, Agbu Kefas to encourage domestic investors to strive.

Dangote while presenting his speech urged the governor to prioritize more on encouraging local investors, stating that foreign investors can only be attracted to Taraba State when local investors are doing well.

“I advise you to start the success of the investment with domestic investors, in any environment where local investors excel, it attracts foreign investors and on their own, they strive to come in without wooing them.

“We as Dangote Group, we are ready to come and invest in Taraba State,” Dangote stated.
The chairman of UBA, Tony Elumelu promised to partner with the Taraba State government to empower the youths.

“We, as Transcorp company, look forward to partnering with Taraba State to make sure your dream of TARAVEST comes true. I believe strongly that empowerment is the only way to raise our younger ones.

When you have an investment, people lead better lives. Industrialisation also brings peace and security,” Elumelu said.
