Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the quality of life for all citizens, stating that it remains the foremost responsibility of governments at all levels.

Bala Mohammed made this known during a courtesy visit by Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, Chief of Field Office for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Bauchi Field Office, held at the Government House.

Governor Mohammed underscored the critical role of collaboration in tackling development challenges and promoting the welfare of residents, especially women and children under the age of five.

He noted that his administration is prioritising key areas essential to the state’s development which are ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective leadership across all sectors, expanding access to quality healthcare services and promoting public health and enhancing educational infrastructure, promoting literacy, and encouraging skills acquisition.

On nutrition, he stressed that it is addressing malnutrition and promoting food security through sustainable agriculture and nutrition programmes.

He expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s ongoing support and emphasized the necessity of strong partnerships in executing impactful development initiatives.

Bala, however, voiced concern over persistent challenges facing the state, particularly malnutrition, which continues to threaten the health and future of children.

Governor Mohammed stressed the need for increased capacity building in agriculture to boost food production and ensure access to nutritious food for all citizens.

He assured Dr. Rafique of his administration’s unwavering commitment to sustained engagement with UNICEF and other development partners to address critical issues and promote inclusive development.
