Enforcers of Good Governance (EGG), a socio-political pressure group, has commended the economic and infrastructure reforms of President Bola Tinubu.
The group, which is based in the Rivers, made the commendation at a news conference in Abuja yesterday.
Its convener and national leader, Dr Kingsley Ogu, told newsmen that Tinubu’s actions in the critical sectors of the economy were in the right direction.
He said it was therefore important that his group would through its weight behind the president’s re-election bid in 2027.
He said the group was particularly happy with Tinubu for completing the repayment of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan, saying it was a heavy burden for the country for many years.
He also commended the president for the increase in crude oil production to over 1.4 million Barrels Per Day and the resolution of the Ogoni oil dispute which had lingered for several decades.
Ogu said that the proactive Tinubu reforms had started yielding positive results, adding that these informed the decision of EGG to declare its support for him.
Ogu said though EGG worked for the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, in 2023 presidential election but it would support Tinubu in 2027 because of his bold reforms.
“We are democrats; we are indigenous to Rivers State. We are arguably the largest grassroots mobilisers with members across the 23 LGA of Rivers State and beyond.
“We are on ground. So, we are stakeholders and we work for the best interest of Rivers people. We want to contribute our quota; we want to be part of this history so that posterity will be kind to us.
“Considering the current political climate in the country particularly in the Niger Delta, the time is right for Rivers people to embrace the Renewed Hope Agenda,’’ he said. (NAN)
