Police Bust Kidnappers’ Hideout, Rescue Victims In Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command in collaboration with local vigilantes busted a kidnapping den where two abducted victims were rescued as operatives also recovered one AK-47 rifle.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Dungus Abdulkarim who disclosed this, said the Gujba Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call at about 10am from an eyewitness in Buni Yadi on May 25, 2025.

Following the distress call, Dungus said police identified the hideout of the criminal elements, and with the support of community members, stormed the location.

 

He said that the culprits escaped were engaged in gun battle with the criminals sustaining injuries resulting in abandoning their victims and leaving behind an AK-47 rifle with two magazines loaded with 25 rounds of ammunition.

Dungus stressed that the victims were rescued unhurt and taken to the hospital for medical attention.

 

The PPRO added that efforts were being intensified to apprehend the fleeing culprits for subsequent prosecution.

 

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Emmanuel Ado commended the personnel for their efforts and reaffirmed his commitment to working assiduously with community members to ensure the protection of lives and property.
