The general manager of the ASOPADEC, Dr Joshua Onyeike stated this while speaking with LEADERSHIP Weekend in Umuahia on its impact on education in the past two years.

Onyeike said the impacts include awarding of scholarships to students in tertiary institutions, distribution of seats and renovation of both primary and secondary schools.

He explained that ASOPADEC has also registered 150 students for both the West African Examination Certificate Examination and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

According to him, others are fumigation of school buildings, renovation of classroom blocks at Mbato Secondary School and Amaede Technical School, Isiala Ngwa South local government area, among others.

He also stated that ASOPADEC completed the nursing quarters at Owaza Cottage Hospital, and is renovating Obehie Central School, Obehie, with support from the Alex Otti-led administration.

He stressed that the feats are a clear departure from what happened “for over 24 years of the last administrations when the areas were completely neglected abandoned.”

Asserting that under Otti, the narrative had changed, he said, “we thank God that the commission is doing a lot of jobs to project this government and to give consolation to the oil-producing areas.”
