Spokesperson of APC in the state, Hon. Chibike Ikenga gave Tinubu a pass mark in a chat with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt, saying the president “killed” the subsidy regime to enable the government to survive.

Ikenga stressed that based on the programmes and policies of the APC-led government in the midterm so far, state governments, local governments, ministries and departments no longer complain about funding.

“The president has tried even beyond expectations because the level of rot was unprecedented. You know that the President took the bull by the horn.

“The very day he took over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria, he announced the removal of the dreaded fuel subsidy. He killed the subsidy regime to enable the government to survive. That helped tremendously.

“You know today that state governments, local governments, ministries, departments no longer complain about funding. That was the first step.

“You know the unification of the exchange rate regime is also a major plus. You also know about the institution of students’ loan as it is done in the Western world is also a major boost,” he said.

The Rivers APC image maker also commended the president for and the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr Nyesom Wike for elevating the FCT “from a slum to a great city capital, comparable to anywhere in the world”.

“You are also aware that President Tinubu raised the minimum to almost 100 percent. So, these are some of the things we believe he has done excellently,” he stated.

Ikenga assured that President Tinubu has performed tremendously well and expressed the belief that things will get better in the next two years.
