Governor Otu noted that when it becomes fully operational, the highway would go a long way to compliment President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

Otu made the remarks on Saturday during the commissioning of the highway’s first phase in Lagos State.

The 30-kilometer, six-lane expressway is expected to revolutionise transportation, boost regional trade, and drive economic development in Nigeria’s southern corridor.

The governor stressed that the project demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment to a greater Nigeria, assuring it will unlock immense economic opportunities.

He confirmed that construction activities have commenced in the Calabar section of the highway, pledging his administration’s full cooperation with the federal government to ensure the project’s success.

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, spanning approximately 700 kilometers, aims to enhance interconnectivity, accelerate tourism and commerce, and catalyze regional integration and prosperity.

The project has recorded impressive progress since its groundbreaking in March 2024, with about 169 kilometers currently under construction.

The Cross River State governor emphasised the project’s alignment with his administration’s people-centered development philosophy, stressing that the project has the potential to reshape the economic trajectory of coastal states.
