The summit, which is expected to surpass previous editions in scale and impact and bring together key players from the public and private sectors across the continent, will promote Local Content for Africa’s Sustainable Growth.

Formerly known as the Nigeria-Africa Natural Resource & Energy Investment Summit (NAFNIS), AFNIS has become Africa’s premier platform for advancing sustainable development through strategic investment in natural resources and energy.

This year’s theme, “Harnessing Local Content for Sustainable Development,” highlights the summit’s focus on driving innovation, policy reform, and industrial growth rooted in African solutions.

The conference will convene experts from mining, energy, agriculture, finance, and policymakers to develop actionable strategies for maximising local content and value addition.

According to Segun Tomori, the special assistant on media to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, AFNIS 2025 aims to promote green energy financing, trade facilitation, and regional collaboration while spotlighting investment opportunities across Africa.

Minister of Solid Minerals Development and Chairman of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG), Dr. Dele Alake, will host the summit.

A strong proponent of value-chain development, Dr. Alake will speak on the Tinubu administration’s ongoing reforms to transform Nigeria into a key industrial and investment hub.

High-level participants will include Kenya’s Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Ali Joho; Liberia’s former Minister of Agriculture, Jeanine Cooper; and Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy, who will deliver a keynote address.

Industry leaders like Segun Lawson, CEO of a leading gold mining firm in Nigeria, will also attend.

A special delegation from the Indian Business Council will further strengthen trade ties, following significant investment agreements initiated during the 2023 G20 summit in New Delhi.

One of the key highlights will be the commissioning of a new lithium processing plant by ASBA Group of Companies, a milestone reflecting the success of Nigeria’s push for local content. ASBA’s involvement signals a robust private sector commitment to sustainable, industrial-led growth across the continent.

According to the statement, AFNIS 2025 promises to be a pivotal gathering for shaping Africa’s future in natural resource management.

Stakeholders and professionals across the continent are encouraged to register and participate in the transformative event.
