In celebration of this year’s Children’s Day, Tomorrow’s Women Development Organisation (TWDO), in partnership with Thelema Lions Multipurpose Cooperative Society and Divine Gold Multipurpose Cooperative Society, has provided food, gifts, and words of encouragement to over 300 children in the underserved Zyinda community in Abuja.

The outreach aimed to bring joy and hope to children in one of the Federal Capital Territory’s most neglected areas.

The founder of TWDO, Hon. Chinyere Ezenwokike, explained that Zyinda was chosen due to its lack of basic amenities such as electricity, roads, hospitals, markets, and pipe-borne water. She described the community as socially underdeveloped and called on the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to prioritise infrastructure development. Despite these challenges, Hon. Ezenwokike praised the community for its peaceful nature and strong engagement in agriculture and business.

She urged the children to cultivate good character, which she described as essential for becoming responsible and successful adults. Supporting the message, Lady Ify Agu, Executive Director of Thelema Lions Foundation, emphasised the role of education and moral values in shaping future leaders. She encouraged the children to remain committed to learning and upright living as a path to personal and communal development.

In a show of personal commitment to the cause, Lady Ify Agu also offered a scholarship to one indigent child from the community, underscoring the foundation’s dedication to uplifting disadvantaged children through access to education and opportunity.

Dr. Lizzy Ejiogu, a development expert, was also in attendance, lauding the initiative’s impact and encouraging its continuity. She advised women and children in Zyinda to make the most of such empowerment efforts, which not only celebrated Children’s Day but also spotlighted the urgent need for improved social infrastructure in the community.
