The announcement marks a new chapter for the institution as it expands its academic and research frontiers.

The appointment emphasised the state government’s confidence in his leadership and academic experience to guide the university toward greater achievements.

Before this appointment, Professor Yerima served as the acting vice chancellor of the institution.
His elevation to the substantive position is seen by many as a recognition of his dedication, competence, and the stability he brought during his tenure in an acting capacity.

His background in higher education and understanding of the university’s vision make him well-positioned to lead SSU into a new era of excellence and innovation.
