West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Nigeria has debunked the rumour making the rounds that it has cancelled the English Language paper written on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in the ongoing Senior School Certificate Examinations.

The management of the examination  body via a statement signed on Tuesday by the acting head, Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina stated that the press release being circulated did not emanate from the council, adding that the said examination has not been cancelled and a new date for the conduct of the examination would be announced soon.

Recall that the English Language examination held last week had students finishing the exam in the evening around 7pm due to a report that the exam paper leaked and WAEC had to issue a statement and swiftly replace the exam questions with another one to salvage the situation.

This made students write the English Language examination under strenuous conditions with some centres using candles and torchlights as seen online.
