The Bauchi Emirate Council has unveiled Emir Rilwanu Suleimanu’s schedule for the much-anticipated Sallah Durbar, a cultural and spiritual highlight of Eid-ul-Adha festivities.

The information officer of the Emirate, Salmanu Yakubu Lame, confirmed this to reporters in Bauchi, detailing the emir’s movements and the grandeur expected during the event.

According to Lame, the emir will depart his palace at 8:00 am on Sallah day to the Eid Ground through Liman Mahmood Street, commonly known as Bakaro Street, adding that after the two raka’at prayer, the emir’s entourage will embark on a ceremonial procession, a cherished aspect of the Durbar. The route will cover Kofar Wambai, Central Market Roundabout, Unguwan Jaki, and Kobi Street before returning to the palace to receive the traditional greetings.

LEADERSHIP reports that the Durbar is not just a parade but a vibrant display of Bauchi’s rich cultural heritage. The event, steeped in tradition, involves colourful horse riders, drummers, and performers, symbolising unity, peace, resilience and the enduring spirit of the Bauchi people.

Similarly, this ancient tradition, historically a way of demonstrating allegiance to rulers, has evolved into a festival that draws thousands of spectators, celebrating Bauchi’s rich tapestry of art, culture and community spirit.

The emirate assured that all preparations are in place to ensure a smooth and memorable event, urging residents and visitors to join in observing the sacred and cultural essence of the day.
