Lagos State government on Thursday announced the arrival of three new train sets, comprising 12 coaches, for the Blue Line Rail project.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu shared the update on his Facebook page, highlighting the development as a major step toward improving public transportation in the state.
According to the governor, the new trains will significantly reduce wait times and enhance passenger comfort on the Blue Line, which currently operates between Marina and Mile 2.
“This means shorter wait times and more comfortable trips for everyone using the Blue Line. It’s a step forward in our efforts to make daily commuting in Lagos less stressful and more reliable,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The governor also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to extending the Blue Line from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, with a completion target set for 2026.
“I know it’s been a long time coming, but I truly believe we’re building something that will change how we move around this city for the better,” he added, while thanking residents for their patience and continued support.
The Blue Line is part of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) project aimed at easing traffic congestion and providing a modern alternative to road transportation across the state.
