The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) over alleged insults directed at the Presidency over the visit of Governor Ademola Adeleke to President Bola Tinubu recently.

In a statement released by the Osun PDP chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi, the party described the APC’s reactions as unbecoming and disgraceful, accusing them of lacking a basic understanding of governance and intergovernmental courtesy in a democratic setting.

“The vitriolic outbursts from APC stalwarts since President Tinubu welcomed Governor Adeleke at His Lagos Residence show a total disregard for decorum and an alarming ignorance of democratic principles,” Hon Bisi stated, “Such conduct is beneath the proud Yoruba tradition of mutual respect and civility.”

He emphasised that Adeleke will continue to engage all democratic avenues, including discussions with the president where and when necessary, to secure meaningful development for the people of Osun who made him their governor.

The PDP pointed out that the APC has made a habit of showing disrespect to government officials, referencing similar outbursts during the visits of First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, ranking member of the House of Representatives, Ado Doguwa, and lately, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, all of whom faced unprovoked insults from Osun APC elements simply for acknowledging the Governor’s developmental strides.

Drawing from history, Bisi reminded the APC of how former Osun Governor, Chief Bisi Akande, despite party differences, hosted the then President Olusegun Obasanjo for three days, engaging in joint project commissioning and dialogue for the state’s benefit.

“That’s how real governance works,” he noted. “Perhaps today’s APC chronic minnows should seek wisdom from respected leaders like Baba Bisi Akande on the true meaning of leadership and statesmanship.”

He concluded by urging the APC to rise above petty politics and focus on constructive engagement for the people’s welfare, praising Governor Adeleke for maintaining a firm focus on peace, progress, and purposeful dialogue.

The All Progressives Congress had in a release taunted the PDP saying that Adeleke’s family visit to the president has no significant implications.

The statement by the chairman, Tajudeen Lawal read in part: “The visit of David Adeleke popularly known as ‘Davido’ who led his father, Dr Deji Adeleke and his uncle, the Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his Lagos residence on Tuesday does not have any significant political implications on the governorship aspirants of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as it is more or less a non-issue.

“Taking into cognizance the fact that the host President Tinubu is a grandmaster of partisan politics should be part of the reasons why no one should have a sleepless night over the said controversial visit.

“We shouldn’t forget the fact that the President has the whole country as his constituency and any one irrespective of political persuasion, religious leaning and ethnic background has the right to visit the nation’s President as long as such visit is not capable of causing cataclysm to the number one citizen of the country

“Our party is intact in our state and I am eminently qualified to state that we have an array of capable and qualified governorship aspirants who have been consulting with interest groups about their 2026 gubernatorial aspirations, to take over from the current bumbling and fumbling governor and give quality leadership to the people of Osun State” Lawal stated
