Eid-el-Kabir: CAN Urges Citizens To Preach Peace, Work For Justice

The Borno State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on Nigerians to continue to praying for peace and work for justice while also remembering the less privileged during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Chairman of CAN in the State, Most Rev. Dr. John Bogna Bakeni gave the on Friday while extending warm greetings to Muslim Ummah in Borno and beyond as they mark the Eid-el-Kabir festival.

“On behalf of the entire Christian community in Borno State, I wish to felicitate with the Muslim ummah as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir 2025. May Allah accept your prayers and supplications and reward you for your sacrifices.

 

“I urge citizens to continue to preach and work for justice, peace, and harmony in Borno, while remembering the less privileged in the spirit of the season.

“As we share and exchange gifts, let us remember the poor and the underprivileged around and among us,” he said.

 

Bakeni noted that the celebration comes amid various socio-economic and security challenges, including economic hardship, high cost of living, insecurity, and environmental pressures.

 

He called on the public to use the occasion as a moment of reflection and prayer.

 

“Let us use this moment of grace to seek the face of God in all these difficulties and challenges,” he added added.

 

He also urged all residents to preach love, shun violence, and maintain peace during the festive period.

 

“Let us preach love during this holy season. We must eschew violence and maintain peace and calm especially during this festive period,” Bakeni stated.
