The Yobe State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Umaru Wakil, has described Governor Mai Mala Buni’s unwavering investment in road and infrastructure development as a catalyst for economic prosperity and social transformation across the state.
Engr. Wakil made this known when he paid an unscheduled visit to the ongoing asphalt overlay on the Potiskum–Ngojin road, one of the major projects initiated under Governor Buni’s administration to improve connectivity and ease transportation challenges in the area.
A statement issued by the Yobe State Focal Person on Digital and Strategic Communications, Yusuf Ali, the commissioner expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of the work, noting that the standard of the asphalt overlaying was commendable.
“The timely completion of this road will not only ease movement for residents but also support trade and enhance access to markets, healthcare, and other essential services,” Wakil said.
He applauded Governor Buni for his sustained commitment to infrastructural development, stressing that the administration’s focus on road construction and rehabilitation is laying a solid foundation for long-term socioeconomic growth in Yobe.
Engr. Wakil also urged contractors handling the projects to adhere strictly to quality standards to ensure lasting value for public funds.
He assured the people of the state that the government remained committed to delivering durable infrastructure that will drive development and improve livelihoods across Yobe.
