Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chief Tony Okocha, has described the defection of the Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC as a wise decision.

Okocha disclosed this in reaction to Eno and top Akwa Ibom State government officials’ decision to dump the PDP for the APC.

He said, “The defection of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC is a very wise decision, and a right step in the right direction.

“With this move by His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Akwa Ibom State is now in the league of Progressive States in Nigeria.

“The significance of the defection of the Akwa Ibom State governor with an overwhelming majority of the members of the State Executive Council, members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, members of the National Assembly, and chairmen of the local government areas in the state underscores the fact that well meaning Nigerians are seeing the future of this country to be on the right track under the APC led Federal Government of Nigeria.

“It is getting clearer by the day, even to the doubting Thomas, that with the futuristic policies and programs of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as encapsulated in the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, the economy of Nigeria is on the path of transformation and recovery.

“The Tinubu tsunami of defections into the APC that is sweeping across the country currently is evidence of the confidence of well meaning Nigerians in the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

“As we inch closer to the 2027 Presidential Election, a gale of defections into the APC will be expected. It will herald the successful reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a well deserved second term in office in 2027.”

“I wish to use this opportunity to commend and congratulate my colleague, the chairman of the APC in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, for his effective leadership of the APC in the State.”

“I know, and you’ll agree with me that the defection of the state governor to the APC is partly due to the hard work, and the type of leadership provided by the APC chairman of Akwa Ibom State, and you must give that to him.”

“He surely deserves his flowers for this great milestone achievement with the defection of the executive governor of Akwa Ibom State from the PDP to the APC, and you must give it to him.”
