A non-profit organisation, Sentinel Oasis of Love Care Initiative (SOLCI), has emphasised the need for a servant-leadership approach for a better society.

The NGO appealed to its youth training programme and recently held a media launch in Jos, Plateau State.

The event brought together over 60 young leaders from 10 wards in Jos North Local Government Area, setting a bold vision for nurturing servant leadership anchored on inclusion and social transformation.

The gathering served as a platform to officially introduce SOLCI’s mission, vision and innovative digital engagement tools to key stakeholders.

The organisation, led by a legal luminary, Mr Haroun Audu and a home engineer, Mrs Marie Audu, is committed to empowering young people aged 18 to 30 from various ethnic, religious and socio-political backgrounds to become value-driven changemakers.

Highlights of the event included a keynote address by SOLCI’s co-founder, Mr Haroun Audu, titled “How Exemplary Leadership Can Change the World. “ The address emphasised the urgent need for servant leadership among the younger generation to reverse societal decline.

The speech outlined SOLCI’s foundation and vision, showcased inspiring examples of youth leadership and introduced the organisation’s five pillars of servant leadership: start small, listen deeply, build bridges, pursue self-development and live for a greater cause. The roundtable featured a panel of discussion moderated by Mr Charles Bulus Jonathan, with experts from economics, sociology, ICT, and

leadership development.

Discussions centred on the power of religious diversity, inclusive governance, youth empowerment, mentorship and the positive use of social media for storytelling and community building.

Participants also engaged in an interactive session led by Rev Williams Burga of Harvest Leadership Community in Africa (HaLCiA), who challenged participants to embrace leadership as a form of community service rather than self-glorification.

Ward leaders and other dignitaries lauded SOLCI’s initiative to foster unity and nurture future leaders.  Chairman of PLASIEC and chairman of the occasion, Hon. Daniel Chishak, underscored the importance of patience and perseverance in every leadership journey.

The event culminated in a shared commitment to ongoing civic dialogue, mentorship, and grassroots collaboration. SOLCI’s digital platforms were unveiled, promising sustained engagement and storytelling to amplify youth voices and impact.

The secretary of the Board of Trustees of SOLCI, Keran Danjan, thanked the participants and community leaders for their vital contributions, noting that the event marks not just a launch but the start of a movement towards a more inclusive and servant-led society in the state and beyond.
