Tinubu To Wike: APC Will Welcome You If You Decide

President Bola Tinubu has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his infrastructural strides, stating that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would gladly welcome him if he chooses to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The President made the remarks on Wednesday while commissioning the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) in Katampe District, Abuja, a project completed within eight months under Wike’s supervision.

Though Wike remains a PDP member, Tinubu hinted at a possible political realignment: “He is not a member of my party, not yet. But we will welcome him if he changes his mind and registers with the progressives. Because we will join him in singing, as they say, ‘the best way to do it is to do it with us.’”
The President commended Wike’s leadership and described him as a ‘team player’ whose efforts have brought tangible development to the FCT.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure as a driver of economic growth.
“Infrastructure is not a luxury. It is a necessity. It is the bedrock of national competitiveness, growth, social integration, and economic opportunity,” Tinubu said.

The newly inaugurated road, which connects key districts in Abuja, is expected to ease traffic and spur economic activities.

Tinubu urged residents to protect the infrastructure while promising more developmental projects.
“We will continue to build, we will continue to serve the people, no matter how much the naysayers pursue their politics,” he said.

Earlier, in his address, Wike thanked the President for his support and swiped at political opponents, dismissing their criticisms as inconsequential.

“There are so many people that, whatever you do, they will never be happy. They were born not to be happy. But those who appreciate your work are elated,” he said.

He also highlighted the efficiency of contractors under the current administration, crediting Tinubu’s prompt payment system for the speedy completion of projects.

“Before, no contractor would take the risk of working without upfront payment. But now, companies compete for jobs because they know this government pays,” Wike said.

The FCT Minister further mocked opposition alliances, claiming that the administration’s achievements have left them in disarray.

“Your good work has killed the coalition. I was thinking they were truly collapsing. Every day, they see progress on TV, NTA, Channels, and TVC everywhere. President Tinubu is there. They have no choice but to watch,” he said.
