The facility is one of the 88 impact projects launched a few months ago and is currently being upgraded to a Level 2 facility.

While some of the PHC projects are already completed, others are nearing completion with over 75% of work done, and the rest are still in progress.

During his working visit, Governor Ododo expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done on the project.

He commended the health commissioner, Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, and the executive director of the Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KSPHCDA), Dr Muazu Musa Omeiza, for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the project.

Speaking on the visit, the executive director of KSPHCDA, Dr Muazu Musa Omeiza, said the “88 PHCs” project in Kogi State was a World Bank-supported initiative aimed at upgrading and revitalising 88 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state.

According to him, with a commitment of over N7 billion, the project is expected to improve healthcare delivery and contribute to universal health coverage.

Additionally, seven PHCs are being upgraded under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), 21 PHCs by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and eight PHCs are being rehabilitated by UNICEF/Global Fund.

He added that the governor’s inspection visit demonstrated his dedication to ensuring quality healthcare services for the people of Kogi State.

He said upgrading primary healthcare centres across Kogi State is a significant step towards improving healthcare delivery and achieving universal health coverage.

“With Governor Ododo’s leadership and commitment to healthcare development, Kogi State is poised to become a model for healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
