Nigeria’s Super Falcons have remained steady, holding their 36th position in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings.

In the new rankings published on the official website of the soccer governing body, FIFA, yesterday, Falcons despite their unchanged position, continue to top the rankings in Africa.

The United States maintains its lead three months on, although there has been significant movement further down the rankings. The gap at the top has narrowed, as Spain (2nd) and Germany (3rd) apply increasing pressure on the American team. Both nations have remained unbeaten since the last update, whereas a 2-1 loss to Brazil (4th, up 4) in April has raised concerns for the star-studded squad managed by Emma Hayes. England (down 1) completes the top five, just ahead of Sweden (6th). Additionally, Japan and Canada have experienced the repercussions of recent defeats against South American teams.

The next edition of the FIFA Women’s World Rankings is set to be published on 7 August 2025.

Last week’s Tuesday, the Super Falcons claimed a 2-0 victory against Cameroon in an international friendly held in Abeokuta, Ogun State. A first-half brace from Rasheedat Ajibade secured the win for coach Justin Madugu’s side.
