Plateau State Governor Barr. Caleb Mutfwang has commissioned a laboratory, paediatric ward and an office complex at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital in Jos. He said the upgraded facilities would serve as a medical hub for the state, with modern equipment and quality services.

Speaking during the commissioning, the governor said, “We now have the most sophisticated medical laboratory complex in northern Nigeria, equipped with machines worth billions for haematology, microbiology, chemical pathology and histopatholgy, housed in a well-furnished, massive edifice.”

According to him, the hospital also has an electronic medical record system that would eventually extend to PHCs, ending the problem of too many paper files prone to damage by fire and moisture.

The commissioner for health, Dr. Nicholas Ba’amlong, thanked the governor for his swift intervention and consistent approvals to revamp the health sector.

He noted that general hospitals across all 17 LGs had received significant upgrades, while citizens’ health needs were increasingly met through the state’s health insurance scheme.
