The captain of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Rasheedat Ajibade, has expressed her team’s determination to reclaim their title at the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024.
The tournament will take place in Morocco, where Ajibade and her teammates aim to redeem themselves after losing the crown to South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in the previous iteration of the competition.
The Super Falcons boast an impressive record in WAFCON history, being the most successful team with a total of nine titles.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Super Falcons show, Ajibade conveyed her optimism, stating,
“There’s a lot of confidence in camp and we’re committed to our goal. We all understand what’s at stake.”
The West African powerhouse will commence their WAFCON 2024 campaign against Tunisia on Sunday, 6th July. The team’s group stage will also see them compete against Botswana and Algeria, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting tournament as they pursue their 10th continental title.
