Osun State University Vice Chancellor Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye presented scholarship awards to 29 students across the institution’s faculties on Wednesday.
Sponsored by Osun Development Forum, Texas, USA, Egbado College Old Students’ Association 1993 Focus Group and Engr. Sunday Olowu, the beneficiaries were found worthy by their outstanding performance in their various academic fields.
While appreciating the donors, the vice chancellor reiterated the importance of scholarships, which include breaking financial barriers, assisting financially disadvantaged students by allowing them to access higher education, enhancing students’ academic performance, reducing drop-out rates, and fostering human capital development and national progress.
Giving the breakdown of the scholarship awards, Adebooye disclosed that Osun Development Forum, Texas, USA, donated N100,000 to 18 Students, Engr. Sunday Olowu donated N100,000 to 10 Students, and N945,000 was donated to the son of a deceased Egbado College Old Student Association, 1993 Focus Group member.
In his address, Mr Kazeem Adetunji, who represented ODF, said the group is committed to transforming the lives of Osun residents by providing facilities that enhance good living. He added that investment in the education of youths is also of immense importance to them.
Also, Mr Mustapha Adebayo, who represented Engr. Sunday Olowu expressed his commitment to the well-being of the people of Osun State, whom he described as philanthropists.
