The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) in collaboration with the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF) are set to co-host a ‘Technical Coaches Course’ in Abuja, aimed at enhancing the skills of Taekwondo coaches across the nation.

The course will take place from Sunday, 22 June to Friday, 28 June 2025, at the Velodrome within Package ‘A’ of the MKO Abiola National Stadium complex.

An estimated 25 coaches are expected to participate in this initiative, which targets coaches from State Sports Councils, Commissions, and various institutions of higher learning throughout Nigeria. Participants are required to arrive at the course venue on 22 June and will depart on 28 June 2025.

According to a press statement issued by Tony Nezianya, the NOC’s public relations officer, this initiative is part of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) global educational programmes, implemented through Olympic Solidarity in collaboration with the World Taekwondo body. The course aims to equip coaches with essential tools and knowledge to foster the development of Taekwondo in Nigeria.

The training will enhance participants’ understanding of contemporary coaching techniques and methodologies, aligning with the IOC’s mandate to promote clean, healthy, and high-performance athletes.

The course will be led by Mr Tae Sung Kwon, an esteemed international Taekwondo expert from Seoul, South Korea, appointed by the International Federation (IF). He will be assisted by an interpreter from the Korean Embassy in Abuja to facilitate effective communication throughout the duration of the course.
