The standoff at Gadar Lado along Zaria Road in Kano on Monday took a new turn as the man who climbed a towering billboard earlier in the day revealed that he would only descend if certain celebrities he follows on TikTok personally show up at the scene.

This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command in a statement shared on his personal Facebook page on Monday evening.

“Security operatives are currently trying to rescue him, he said that if the celebrities he follows on TikTok do not show up, he will jump. May God protect us,” he stated.

LEADERSHIP reports that since the man climbed the billboard on Monday afternoon, the area has witnessed a heavy build-up of onlookers and a worsening traffic situation, as passersby continue to gather to witness the incident.

The identity of the man remained unknown as of the time of filing this report.
