Benue Killings: Group Commends Tor Tiv, Says Attack Genocidal

The Tortiv, His Royal Majesty, Prof James Ayatse have been commended by the Common Wealth Monitoring Group (CWMG) in his speech during President Bola Tinubu’s condolence visit to Benue State following an attack on Yelwata community.

In a statement signed by Dr Michael Opkpara, the group expressed satisfaction with the explicit presentation of the Paramount, Dr Opkpara acknowledged that even though the situation confronting the people of Benue State was inherited, ongoing efforts of the current administration are worthy of commendations emphasizing that full scale security operations requiring the magnitude to confront this terrorist is beyond the state government calling on President Tinubu to protect Nigerians and give them a sense of security.

 

The group expressed support for state police urging all critical stakeholders to support the full implementation of the framework for effective state policing to bring a lasting solution to the perennial killings of innocent people by marauding herders who are out to kill and maim and take over the ancestral lands of the natives.

 

“The international community support state policing as the most viable alternative to ease pressure on existing federal forces currently understaffed for the country’s rising population estimated to be over 200 million ”
