Wike Hails Rural Transformation As Tinubu Commissions 15km Kwali Road

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described the newly constructed 15-kilometre A2 Junction (Abuja-Lokoja Road) to Pia Town in Kwali area council as a landmark achievement in rural infrastructure development.

During yesterday’s commissioning of the project by President Bola Tinubu, Wike also said that the project is personally significant, revealing how he had personally persuaded the President to witness rural transformation firsthand.

“Today, of all commissions, this is very important to me. When I begged Mr. President to visit our rural communities, I promised he would see the people’s joy. Look around you now, their happiness speaks louder than my words,” he said.

The minister positioned the project as evidence of Tinubu’s balanced development agenda, disclosing that over 150 kilometres of roads have been delivered across satellite towns since May 2023.
He narrated how the Pia-Gomani segment was initially excluded from plans until he intervened.

“It made no sense to have a road to Gomani without linking Pia. The contractor promised delivery for Mr. President’s second anniversary, and today we celebrate their kept promise,” he said.
Wike then delivered an accountability report, listing six already-commissioned emergency roads across all six area councils, 9km Paikon Kore-Ibwa Road (Gwagwalada).

Others are the 5km Gabo-Tokulo Road with a bridge (Bwari), the 5km Garage Junction-U.S. Secretariat Road (Kuje), the 11km Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebo Road (Kwali) and the 5km Saburi communities access road (AMAC).

The Minister announced upcoming projects, including the 18km Nyanya-Karshi dual carriageway and 16.4km Ushafa-Kaduna Checkpoint road, challenging sceptics to verify the administration’s work.

“Let the doubting Thomases visit these sites. These aren’t phantom projects but tangible roads transforming rural lives.

“We want real farmers, not political farmers hoarding land. With these roads, we are creating agricultural corridors to solve Nigeria’s food crisis.

“When a leader supports his appointees, magic happens. Today, the people are happy, so we’re happy. Mr. President, I know you’ll return to the Villa happier,” he said.
