Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited and a contracting firm, Macobarb International Limited, yesterday regularised their motions in a N1billion civil suit before a Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt.

Macobarb had dragged NLNG to the court, presided by Hon. Justice Chinwendu Nwogu, seeking for the sum of N1billion as compensation over alleged contract scandal.

The contracting firm, which claimed that the contract was breached and terminated without offsetting all bills and payments due them, said by not paying them off, the equipment and men remained on site to accrue more liabilities daily.

At the resumed hearing on the suit, Macobarb was represented by Barr Morrison Uzoma and C. Jombo while NLNG was represented by lawyers from Babalakin Chamber led by Barr Valentine Igboneku.

The NLNG lawyers, who were said to have filed their motions out of time asking the case to be dismissed, now used the opportunity to regularise their filings.

Macobarb had brought a motion asking to be permitted to prove its case against NLNG since NLNG had not filed statement of defence well over the time it ought to. They too withdrew their motion and rather filed counter motions answering what NLNG had filed in their demand to dismiss the case.
