Military Widows Association (MWA) Kebbi State Chapter has honoured the governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, with a distinguished award for his contribution to the lives of widows, orphans and the less privileged in the state.
MWA chairperson in the state, Hajiya Asma’u Umar, presented the award at a brief ceremony marking World Widows Day at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
Asma’u Umar said, ” Your Excellency we are here to show our appreciation and gratitude to you as a father for your contributions to widows and other vulnerable members in the society, particularly on the number of appointment slots you offered to women across the state.”
She, however, requested a vehicle to strengthen their official movement whenever the need arises. She noted that her members would support his second term bid come 2027.
Receiving the award, Governor Idris thanked the association for the honour done to him, which he described as a proud moment not for him but for the people of Kebbi State.
He added that his administration would continue to support the wives of the fallen heroes who gallantly fought for Nigeria’s unity. He also promised to provide a vehicle to the association in order to carry out its responsibilities in and outside the state.
