The Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN) has emphasised the need to continue to train judges and key regulatory institutions to enhance their understanding of insolvency matters in the country.

BRIPAN president Chimezie Ihekweazu (SAN) said this at the association’s Members’ Night Out and the induction ceremony for 87 new members, which was held in Lagos.

Ihekweazu stated that specialised training for judges would improve business recovery and insolvency practices in Nigeria by supporting overall business growth and development.

He stressed that the initiative would promote sustainable insolvency regimes, particularly in the context of economic reform and debt recovery frameworks.

The senior lawyer also said that over the past year, BRIPAN has strengthened its relationship with the judiciary through targeted courtesy visits to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court.

Ihekweazu noted that these engagements have fostered a better understanding of insolvency processes and encouraged more consistent and firm judicial approaches to insolvency issues.
