The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commended the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for the prompt arrest of suspects believed to be behind the recent massacre in Yelwata, Benue State, which led to multiple deaths and widespread destruction of property.

In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, the director-general of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, described the arrest as a clear demonstration of the security agencies’ commitment to protecting lives and property.

He said the swift response brought much-needed relief to affected communities and reassured Nigerians of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order.

Issa-Onilu applauded the tireless efforts of the security personnel, noting that the development would serve as a deterrent to others plotting similar acts of violence.

He linked the progress to the National Values Charter under the “Nigerian Promise,” which lists peace and security as key obligations owed by the government to the people.

According to him, the arrest aligns with this commitment and reflects responsive governance.

The NOA DG also commended President Bola Tinubu for his decisive leadership, recalling that during a recent visit to Benue State, the president had directed security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.

That presidential directive, Issa-Onilu noted, has now been fulfilled.

He further praised the synergy among Nigeria’s security agencies, describing their collaboration as vital in addressing the nation’s complex security challenges.

“The unity of purpose demonstrated by our security forces in this operation should be a model for ongoing inter-agency collaboration,” he stated.

Issa-Onilu urged citizens to continue supporting security agencies with timely and accurate information, stressing that public cooperation is critical to ensuring long-term peace and stability.

Reaffirming NOA’s role, he reiterated the agency’s commitment to fostering unity, patriotism, and national integration, while encouraging Nigerians to uphold a culture of peace and coexistence.
