In a significant development in the world of football, former Chelsea midfielder Faustino Anjorin has expressed his intention to change his international allegiance from England to Nigeria. Born in England to a Nigerian father, Anjorin remains eligible to represent both nations, a fact that has now taken centre stage following his recent decision.

At just 23 years of age, Anjorin has previously donned the England jersey at three different age-group levels. However, despite his promising talent and versatility in the midfield, he has yet to receive a call-up to the senior England squad. This lack of opportunities has prompted the young player to consider his future more seriously, leading him towards the Nigerian national team.

Currently plying his trade with Serie A club Empoli, Anjorin’s performances have caught the eye of many, but the English national selectors have overlooked him at the full international level. This situation has opened the door for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, who are keen to bolster their squad with talented players like Anjorin.

Recent reports from Soccernitty gritty indicate that Anjorin has held discussions with the Super Eagles’ head coach, Eric Chelle. The meeting was described as “fruitful,” and it appears to have played a pivotal role in Anjorin’s decision-making process. Sources suggest that the player is now more than willing to commit his international career to Nigeria, a move that could provide him with the opportunity to compete on a larger stage.

As Anjorin prepares to make this significant switch, the football community is watching closely.
His decision could not only impact his own career trajectory but also contribute to the growing strength of the Nigerian national team as they continue to build towards future competitions. The Super Eagles are known for their passionate fanbase and rich footballing history, which could offer Anjorin a platform to shine and make his mark on international football.
