Former Nigerian international Sunday Oliseh has offered some significant advice to Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, stressing the importance of playing in the English Premier League (EPL) if he wishes to maintain his prominence in the world of football.

The Galatasaray star has emerged as a highly sought-after transfer target for a number of clubs across Europe, as well as those in the Saudi Football League, following his impressive performances in the Turkish league. As one of the shining lights of Nigerian football, Osimhen’s potential move away from Turkey has garnered considerable attention.

In an engaging conversation with Lagos Talks, Oliseh, who once presided as head coach of the Super Eagles, spoke highly of Osimhen’s implications for Nigerian football. He remarked, “I believe that he (Osimhen) is a tremendous asset to Nigerian football. However, like any top asset, he comes with his own set of challenges. It is imperative that we identify these shortcomings and find pathways to improve and adapt.”

Oliseh continued to elaborate on the matter, saying, “If Osimhen genuinely wishes to remain in the limelight and elevate his career, he must strongly consider making a move to the Premier League. The fans back home want to see him shine on such a prestigious stage. He has been continuously linked with top clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea, and for good reason.”

He went on to suggest that, while Osimhen undoubtedly has the talent, there are several factors he needs to address in order to enhance his game. “To fulfil his potential and achieve greater heights in his career, there are many areas in which he must evolve. Embracing the challenges of the Premier League could provide him the platform to showcase his abilities on a global scale.”

Oliseh’s words resonate deeply within the football community, highlighting the aspirations of Nigerian fans who wish to see their homegrown talent thrive in one of the most competitive leagues in the world. As the transfer window remains open, all eyes will be on Osimhen to see if he seizes this opportunity to take his career to the next level.
