A political mobilisation platform, Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN), has unveiled plans to empower thousands of residents in Edo State, organise medical outreach programmes and undertake road walk as part of efforts to galvanise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The initiative, founded by President Tinubu’s son, Barrister Seyi Tinubu, is also set to hold a town hall meeting and a grand rally in Benin City, the Edo State capital, as part of a nationwide campaign to secure a second term for the president.
South-South Zonal Coordinator of RTIFN, Mr Osaretin Okunrobo, disclosed this weekend while expressing confidence that Tinubu would win the 2027 presidential election, citing what he described as the administration’s economic reforms, improved investor confidence and infrastructure development.
Okunrobo said the proposed interventions, including empowerment programmes, healthcare services and road works, were designed to mobilise grassroots support for the president while bringing direct benefits to communities.
He said the rally would provide an opportunity for the platform to engage residents on the administration’s policies and explain why continuity in government was necessary to consolidate ongoing reforms.
He said the Tinubu administration deserves another term to sustain its economic policies and ongoing development initiatives.
“The objective is to take the message of President Tinubu’s reforms to the grassroots and mobilise Nigerians to support his re-election in 2027,” Okunrobo said.
He added that RTIFN was committed to complementing the administration’s efforts through interventions that would directly affect the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
The coordinator maintained that the planned empowerment initiatives and medical outreach would form part of the platform’s strategy to deepen its engagement with Edo residents ahead of the election.
Okunrobo said Nigeria’s economic outlook was improving, pointing to growing investor confidence, strengthening foreign reserves and the performance of the naira as evidence, in his assessment, that the country was moving in the right direction.
“The figures are there, and you can see the handwriting on the wall. The Nigerian economy is moving forward, and investors are increasingly showing confidence in the economy. Our country is becoming attractive to foreign investment again,” he said.
Speaking further Okunrobo added, “Our foreign reserves are increasing, the naira is getting stronger, and these are indications that the economy is being managed in the right direction. We have also seen significant infrastructure development across the country.”
The RTIFN coordinator also cited the Federal Government’s infrastructure programme, particularly the construction of major highways across the country, as evidence of its commitment to national development.
He urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the administration, arguing that economic reforms often require short-term sacrifices to achieve long-term benefits.
According to him, the difficulties associated with the reforms should not overshadow the potential gains of building a stronger and more sustainable economy.
“Everybody wants to move forward, but the important thing is to keep moving. When you cannot run, you walk; when you cannot walk, you crawl. The most important thing is not to stop moving forward,” Okunrobo said.
He added: “Moving forward sometimes requires sacrifices, and those sacrifices involve all of us. I believe Nigerians should be patient and understand that we are making sacrifices today for a better tomorrow.”
The proposed South-South rally in Benin City is part of a nationwide political mobilisation campaign aimed at building support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Among the prominent All Progressives Congress, APC, leaders expected to grace the occasion are Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo; Senator Adams Oshiomhole; Senator Neda Imasuen; Senator Joe Ikpea; Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh; and Hon. Bala Ahmed, among other party chieftains.
The rally is expected to bring together party leaders, grassroots mobilisers, supporters and residents to promote the president’s second-term ambition and advance RTIFN’s campaign message that the administration’s reforms should be sustained beyond 2027.
