Some of the notable names in the movie includes veteran Nigerian actor, Alex Osifo, Yemi black, Jude Orhorha, Destiny Omon, Nike Adams and Christian Alex.

Badagry is scheduled for its first screening on July 4, 2025, at the Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City, Edo State. The premiere is supported by the Edo State Government and the Edo State Waste Management Board.

According to producer Destiny Omon, the film sheds light on pressing social issues such as drug abuse, kidnapping, prostitution, and armed robbery.

Omon while briefing newsmen ahead of the premiere also urged government to ensure that support to the industry gets directly to those such support are meant for.

The film maker who has spent close to two decades in film making in Ghana however noted that Nigeria remains one of the biggest market in African movies.

According Omon, “ We are here because of a movie we shot in Edo state in March. We had partnership and support from the Edo state government and waste management board. After making the film, we thought it wise to first screen it in Edo state because 90 percent of the crew were recruited from Edo State.

Speaking ahead of the premiere, producer Destiny Omon, described Badagry as a film that tackles major social vices.

“It is a movie that talks about drugs on the street, slums, prostitution, kidnapping, and armed robbery. You will see, raw and unfiltered, the consequences of drug abuse and how bad the situation has become.”

He noted that production began before Governor Monday Okpebholo assumed office, but praised the governor’s firm stance against crime.

“Now we have a governor who says, ‘If you kidnap, I will pull your house down.’ But many still don’t grasp the gravity of what we’re facing.”

On filmmaking in Ghana vs Nigeria, Omon observed that while Ghana offers better security and lighting, it’s cheaper to produce films in Nigeria.
