A high-level delegation from the Federal Government of Nigeria has arrived in Saudi Arabia to receive the remains of late business magnate and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, ahead of his burial in the Islamic holy city of Madinah today Tuesday.

Alhaji Dantata, aged 94, passed away on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Known for his decades-long contribution to commerce and philanthropy, Dantata was one of Nigeria’s most respected industrialists and community leaders.

The delegation, which departed Nigeria late Sunday, touched down in Madinah in the early hours of Monday.

In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja by the special assistant to the minister of information and national orientation, Rabbi Ibrahim, the delegation is led by the minister of defence and former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.

Other members include Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), the minister of justice and attorney general of the federation; Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the minister of information and national orientation; and the Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, the minister of state for housing development.

The Nigerian Consulate General in Jeddah, led by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya, is coordinating local arrangements for the funeral, which is expected to occur later today (Monday) by Islamic rites.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata leaves a legacy of business acumen, religious devotion, and national service, with tributes pouring in from across the country and the diaspora.
