Ogunrotimi To Keynote 10th Anniversary Of African Icon Awards

The African Icon Awards has proudly unveiled Barrister Omowumi Ogunrotimi as the keynote speaker for its highly anticipated 10th anniversary celebration, which will take place on July 26th, 2025, in Abuja.

Omowumi, a distinguished Nigerian legal practitioner and the founder of Gender Mobile Initiative, has garnered acclaim for her extensive advocacy work spanning over 50 rural communities. Her initiatives have focused on creating safe spaces and empowering vulnerable populations, particularly girls and women across the African continent.

Ambassador Abraham Lawal, director of projects, admired Omowumi’s transformative contributions, noting that her efforts have positively impacted over one hundred thousand women and girls. He highlighted her recognition as one of the 20 outstanding young leaders within the Commonwealth, commending her commitment to gender justice and societal development.

On the significance of Omowumi’s keynote address, Ambassador Lawal underscored its theme, ‘The True African Leaders:

The Power of African Youth in Leadership’. “This theme resonates deeply with current challenges and opportunities for Africa’s development,” he emphasised.

The 10th anniversary of the African Icon Awards marks a significant milestone in celebrating African excellence and leadership.
