United States President Donald Trump and his former political ally, Elon Musk, have become at odds.

Trump has reignited his feud with Musk, asserting that without subsidies, Musk’s current title as the wealthiest man in the world would likely belong to his home country, South Africa.

Musk led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) until May, which aimed to reduce fraud and waste in government spending. However, his relationship with Trump soured shortly after he departed from the administration.

The tensions between the pair had eased until Monday, when Musk reignited the conflict with a post on X, stating that those who campaigned on cutting spending but supported the president’s bill “should hang their heads in shame.”

The world’s wealthiest man threatened to establish the America Party the following day if the bill was passed.

In response, Trump threatened to unleash DOGE on the Tesla CEO.

“Elon may receive more subsidies than any human in history, by a long way, and without those subsidies, Elon would likely have to close up shop and return to South Africa.

“No more rocket launches, satellites, or electric car production, and our country would save a fortune. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard look at this? There’s big money to be saved!” he wrote in a post on Truth Social on Monday night.
