N-HYPPADEC Presents Relief Materials To Victims Of Plateau Attacks

The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC has presented relief materials  to victims of attacks in  five local government areas of Plateau State.

The local government areas are Mangu, Riyom, Bassa, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos. Items presented included bags of rice, mattresses, building materials, noodles and other foodstuff.

The acting managing director of  N-HYPPADEC, Mr. Jimoh Haruna Gabi while making the presentation in Jos yesterday, said the commission was people-friendly and community-oriented.

According to him, the commission decided to bring the foodstuff to the victims because it will give some immediate respite, and sympathise with them over the attacks.

He said N-HYPPADEC had also built and equipped a mobile police barracks in Gashish district of Barkin Ladi, supplied fertilizer, power tillers, planters and sprayers to encourage them to go back to farms.

Gabi also said the commission had given starter packs to trainees in the area to enable them became self-sufficient and employers of labour, adding that they had also awarded contract for 13 units of two bedroom apartments for IDPs.

The executive secretary of Plateau Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Hon. Sunday Abdu while receiving the items commended N-HYPPADEC for the gesture.

Abdu, who decried the myriad of security challenges in the state, said the government had put modalities in place to address the situation.

He said that aside insecurity, other challenges such as windstorm, rainstorm and erosion had also bedeviled the state in recent times.

The executive secretary promised that the items donated would be judiciously distributed to the affected persons.
