The theme of the workshop was “Think before you follow, Wise Money Tomorrow.”  Over 20 junior and senior secondary schools participated in the event which attracted more than 150 students to the Joshua Dariye Auditorium of Plateau State Polytechnic Jos campus.

Speaking while declaring the training open,  Plateau State commissioner for education, Dr. Mrs Kachollom Gang, said in today’s complex world, it was essential to have the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions regarding personal finances.

According to her, financial literacy begins now, and this early understanding will help students plan for a better future, adding that this significant event provided an excellent opportunity to enhance financial literacy, starting with the younger generation.

“Sometimes, people who seem “poor” can actually be wealthier than those who appear rich because they know how to manage their finances. As you grow up, you will be better equipped to manage your resources as the leaders of tomorrow.

“Financial literacy is crucial because it empowers you to make informed decisions about savings, investments, and managing your finances. By equipping our students with these skills at an early age, we are shaping the economic future of our state and nation”.

Principal manager, communication and public affairs department of the NDIC, Mrs. Sa’adatu Browsan, gave an overview on the mandate and operations of the corporation while Mrs Fyafa Ashashim presented a paper.
