The Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Junior Chamber International (JCI) Nigeria, through its local chapter, JCI Bauchi City, to revitalise the JCIN Federal Polytechnic Bauchi (JCIN FPTB), the institution’s student leadership arm.

The agreement sets the framework for reactivating the chapter, which had been dormant for several years. It aims to empower students through structured leadership training, entrepreneurship development, community engagement, and global exposure.

Under the two-year renewable MoU, JCI Bauchi City will provide mentorship, leadership training, and necessary resources, while the Federal Polytechnic will offer an enabling environment for the collegiate body to operate within institutional guidelines.

During the signing yesterday, JCI Bauchi City conferred the prestigious Human Duties Ambassador Award on the rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Alhaji Sani Usman. The award was presented by Akintunde Tajudeen Taiwo, the 2025 president of JCI Bauchi City, in recognition of the rector’s exceptional contributions to education, humanity, and leadership.

“This partnership marks a significant milestone in our efforts to build a future where young people are empowered to lead with purpose and create lasting community impact.

“We are proud to recognise the Rector as a Human Duties Ambassador; his leadership exemplifies the core principles of service, dignity, and sustainability,” Taiwo said.

Also speaking at the event, veteran communication strategist and Patron of JCIN FPTB, Hassan Alhaji Hassan, who signed the MoU as a witness, commended the Polytechnic’s leadership for embracing youth engagement.

He assured continued support from JCI Nigeria, adding, “This revitalisation effort is a strategic move toward nurturing future leaders. The national body is fully behind this initiative.”

Speaking on behalf of the polytechnic, Alhaji Mohammed Rabiu Wada, director of public relations, appreciated the recognition and reaffirmed management’s commitment to youth development.

“We thank JCI for this honour and for selecting Federal Polytechnic Bauchi as a platform for nurturing the next generation of leaders. This MoU is timely, and the institution is fully committed to supporting JCIN activities in line with our core goals,” Wada said.

Also present was the polytechnic registrar, Alhaji Kasimu Salihu, who signed the MoU as a witness and reiterated the institution’s support for youth-focused initiatives.

The chapter’s revival forms part of JCI Bauchi City’s wider agenda to promote sustainable leadership within tertiary institutions, ensure continuous talent grooming, and build a pipeline of socially responsible leaders.
